We Scare Because We Care Mini-Grant Application – Due November 15
WE SCARE BECAUSE WE CARE MINI-GRANT PROGRAM
We Scare Because We Care is a mini-grant program created from the proceeds of Shocktober, The Arc of Loudoun’s largest fundraiser. For the third year in a row, this program will award five $1,000 mini-grants to human service nonprofits in Loudoun County. The Arc of Loudoun advocates for, educates, serves and supports people with disabilities and their families.
Grant Amount
We will be giving out 5 grants equaling $1,000 each.
Eligibility
Nonprofit organizations with dedicated programs in Loudoun County are eligible to apply. Funds from this mini-grant need to be used for programs helping children and adults with disabilities as well as their families. Priority will be given to programs with an inclusive project, incorporating people with disabilities.
Application
Applications must be electronically received on or before November 15, 2019 to be considered.
The Proposal
Applicants submit a proposal with the following components:
- A proposal, one to three pages total, briefly explaining the organization, its history, mission, key programs, and the program or project proposed for funding. Be sure to include in your proposal the following about the program or project:
- Expected Outcomes, specifically detailing how this will help individuals with disabilities in Loudoun County; and if it is an inclusive project, describe in detail;
- Number of children and adults impacted, and,
- If the organization would like to collaborate with and/or seek assistance from The Arc of Loudoun on the inclusive aspect of the program, please specify.
The Budget
- Include the application’s line-item budget for the program or project proposed. List any other sources of funding pledged or received for your program or project.
Support Materials
Also include the following:
- An electronic copy of your IRS nonprofit tax determination letter
- An electronic copy of your organization’s Form 990 (if not filed, please explain)
- An electronic copy of your Audit, Review, or Compilation (if not undertaken, please explain)

Awards
Grants will be announced and awarded on November 18, 2019.
Presentation and Reporting
Please note that The Arc of Loudoun will invite each grantee to our Annual Meeting in May of 2020 for the grantees to present their projects.
Each grantee will need to submit a final report on or by July 1, 2020, including:
- A one-page summary of the project,
- How the money was spent
- Any photos of the project
